ILS research examines contracting/subcontracting arrangements

The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) examines the issue of contracting/subcontracting arrangements in the country through the 2016 research paper titled “Examining the Suspension of Registration of New Contractors and Subcontractors: A Regulatory Impact Statement.”

Co-authored by Joyce Anne S. Lumactud and Ivan Cassidy F. Villena of the ILS Labor and Social Relations Research Division, the research explores the impact of the suspension of registration of new contractors and subcontractors and explore alternative options through the conduct of a cost-benefit analysis.

ILS participates in the DOLE Hotline workshop

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) participated in the 4-day skills enhancement training for DOLE Call Center’s Action Officers, titled “Training-Workshop for DOLE Hotline Action Officers”, from August 23-26 at the Main Function Room, Labor Governance Learning Center (LGLC), Blas F. Ople Hall, Intramuros Manila. The setting up of the 24/7 DOLE Hotline Call Services is in line with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to ensure timely delivery of government services.

ILS hosts pre-National Heroes Day flag raising ceremony

Manila, Philippines – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) hosted the Department of Labor and Employment’s post-Independence Day flag raising ceremony last August 22, 2016 at the Local Governance Learning Center (LGLC), Blas Ople Hall in Intramuros, Manila.

The event was attended by DOLE officials headed by then DOLE Acting Secretary Joel Maglunsod and OIC-Undersecretary Joji Aragon.

Consistent with the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) commitment to excellence, the ILS has sent two of its senior level employees to the Supervisory Development Course Track of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) held last 9-12 August 2016 at the CSC-NCR Training Room, in Kaliraya Street, Quezon City.

ILS employees train in enhanced eNGAS and eBudget

Intent on implementing improvement in its processes particularly in financial reporting, the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) has sent six of its employees to train for the “Enhanced Electronic New Government Accounting System (e-NGAS) and eBudget version 2.0 held at the Professional Development Center, Commission on Audit (COA), Quezon City last August 8-12, 2016.

ILS sets out on a 5-year target planning

The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) held its strategic planning session in Country Chateau Hotel in Tagaytay City, Cavite last August 23-24, 2016.

“As researchers, you need to make your work count. It needs to be of value to someone You cannot be timid about your ideas. Find your champion within the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE),” said Assistant Secretary Katherine Brimon during her keynote speech.

ILS launches first Gender and Decent Work policy rounds

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) will be launching the first Gender and Decent Work policy rounds on September 1, from 8:00am – 1:00pm at the Cinematheque Centre, T.M. Kalaw Ave., Ermita, Manila.

The event titled, “SOGIE x Decent Work: Inspiring Action for Workplace Inclusion and Empowerment for LGBT Workers,” aims to be an innovative platform for policy discourse on gender-based issues and concerns on labor and employment. This will be hosted of the ILS’ Gender and Development (GAD) committee, in partnership with key players and tripartite stakeholders.

ILS GAD committee on track with its 1st semester of 2016 targets

The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) submits its Gender and Development (GAD) Accomplishment Report for the First Semester of 2016 to the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC). This is in line with the commitment of government to mainstream gender dimensions in its programs, projects, and activities to implement Republic Act No. 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women (MCW) towards women’s empowerment, gender equity and gender equality.
