Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies, through the Advocacy and Publications Division (APD), launched its online IT HelpDesk portal for its employees and officials via a training session held via Zoom last April 12, 2021.

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) received a general positive review during the 2020 Annual Audit Report Exit Conference, which was held last April 23, 2021 via Zoom.

In full attendance were the ILS employees led by its Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba and Acting Deputy Executive Director Patrick P. Patriwirawan, Jr. The Commission on Audit (COA) team was led by State Auditor V Ms. Ofelia A. Monico and joined by Audit Team Leader Mr. Jan Florenz M. Quimson, State Auditor II, Mr. Al-Helmey F. Aldulrashid, State Auditing Examiner II, and Ms. Dhayana Marie M. Bustillo, State Auditing Examiner II.

The Institute for Labor Studies’ Labor and Employment Officer III Arianne Ishreen C. Bucar of the Workers Welfare Research Division made it to the list of Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Governance Pitching Competition winners along with her team that will be granted 2500 USD  by the U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur to implement their gender-related project proposal.

Their project is titled “Gender Forward: Putting Gender in the Forefront of Budgets” and aims to engage the youth in gender-responsive budgeting through capacity building and open dialogue with local government leaders in Malaysia and the Philippines.

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) organized its very first online DOLE Research Conference for 2020 via the Zoom online platform from 25-26 March 2021.

As a culminating policy advocacy activity anchored on this year’s theme of Revive and Thrive: Actions for Creating a Decent Future of Work Amid and Beyond COVID-19, the 9^th DOLE Research Conference provided a venue for the Institute’s researchers to present the findings of researches conducted during this time of pandemic and elicit discussion and exchange of ideas on labor policy issues between and among various offices and agencies of the Department of Labor and Employment.

The Institute for Labor Studies’ Acting Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Ronell Delerio presented his paper titled “Between Resilience and Transformation: Mental Health Policies, Interventions, and Challenges in the ITBPO Sector through the Covid-19 Crisis” before members of the IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) during the organization’s first Mental Health Forum for 2021 with the theme, “Transitioning to the New Normal: Safeguarding the Mental Wellbeing of the IT-BPM Workforce” held last March 10.

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies’ Gender and Development (GAD) Committee lined up month-long online activities for all its employees in celebration of the International Women’s Month, which officially started on March 8.

The series of online events included a bi-monthly screening of two films, which were followed by a post-screening discussion among its employees.

The Institute for Labor Studies Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba emphasized the contribution of women to both global and local employment and discussed a way of increasing their labor force participation during her guesting in the radio/TV show Oh My Job in Super Radyo DZBB on 27 March 2021.

Host and former OWWA Administrator Arnel Ignacio engaged Exec. Dir. Lobrin-Satumba in the said topic involving women participation in labor force. She acknowledged the existing dilemma generally for women whether they should work or stay home to take care of the family.

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies recently conducted its Year-End Planning Assessment last February 9 via the Zoom online platform. This was presided by ILS Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba, together with Deputy Executive Director Atty. Mary Grace L. Riguer-Teodosio and Acting Deputy Executive Director Patrick Patriwirawan, Jr.

DOLE Undersecretary Benjo Santos Benavides gave the inspirational message for the proceedings. Planning Service Director Adeline T. De Castro delivered the DOLE National Employment Recovery Strategy along with the Highlights of the DOLE 2020 YEPA and 2021 Planning Exercise, which gave further context to DOLE-wide objectives, targets and service delivery strategy for 2021.

Manila – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), through the International Labor Affairs Bureau (ILAB), and the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) organized the “1st Experts’ Work Meeting for the Public Campaign for Safe and Fair Migration in the ASEAN Region” held via Zoom last 25 February 2021.

The video campaign project on safe and fair migration in the ASEAN is part of the implementation of Agreement No. 40281447 between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) under the auspices of the ASEAN Committee on Migrant Workers (ACMW) and funded through the Enhanced Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument (EU- READI),
