Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) welcomes Franz Brien C. Arceleta as its newest staff member. He took his oath of office as Administrative Officer II last January 15, 2024, before OIC-Executive Director III Jeanette T. Damo and Deputy Executive Director III Atty. Mary Grace L. Riguer-Teodosio, and witnessed by fellow ILS employees at the ILS Office, Intramuros, Manila.

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) is among the awardees recognized during the 90^th Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Anniversary celebration held on December 8 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

Vientiane, Lao PDR – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) attends the 2^nd Regional Consultation Workshop on the Development of the ASEAN Declaration on the Prevention and Elimination of Child Labour held from November 29 to 30 in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The two-day workshop was hosted by the Children’s Rights Representatives of the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children of Lao PDR and Thailand, with support from the ASEAN Secretariat and the Addressing Labour Exploitation in Fishing in ASEAN Project funded by the U.S. Department of Labor.

MANILA – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) successfully conducted the second leg of the 12^th DOLE Research Conference through a webinar series held from 13 to 14 December 2023 via Zoom platform and Facebook Live.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) forms part of the Philippine’s delegation to the climate negotiations in the 28th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 28) hosted by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change from November 30 to December 12, 2023, in Expo City, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

MANILA – The Institute for Labor Studies Gender and Development Committee successfully organized a webinar titled “Violence x Harassment: How Does It Affect Productivity” on 15 December 2023 via Zoom platform and Facebook Live. The webinar explores the importance of the ratification of the the Violence and Harassment Convention, 2019 (No. 190) its accompanying Recommendation (No. 206), known as ILO Convention 190 or C190 , the first-ever international treaty on violence and harassment in the world of work.

QUEZON CITY – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) successfully hosted the 12th DOLE Research Conference held from November 28 to 29 at Luxent Hotel, Quezon City, with in-person and online attendees. 

MANILA – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) conducted a webinar as part of its development advocacy dubbed “No Health Without Mental Health: Advancing Mental Health Promotion in Workplaces” on 16 November 2023 live via Zoom and its official Facebook page.

QUEZON CITY – The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) participates in the annual observation of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) with the 2022-2027 recurring campaign theme, “UNITEd for a VAW-free Philippines,” led by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) from November 25 to December 12.
