ILS participates in walk to end VAW

The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) participated in the 2014 Walk to End Violence Against Women (EndVAW) on November 25, at Quezon City (QC) Memorial Circle. The walk marks the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Children.

Bringing together about 5,000 individuals from different national government agencies, local government units and civil society groups, the 2014 EndVAW Walk jumpstarted an 18-day campaign, which will conclude on December 12.

ILS to reorganize GAD committee and look into gender discrimination issues once again

FRESH FROM THE recently-concluded Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) National Conference on Gender and Development (GAD) Planning and Budgeting last May 26 to 30, 2014, Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) Executive Director Cynthia R. Cruz, who was also concurrent director of the DOLE-Planning Service, said that gender discrimination issues in the workplace should be revisited and studied once again.

President Aquino appoints new DOLE officials

PRESIDENT BENIGNO S. Aquino III appointed new officials and agency heads of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) last May 30, 2014. Leading the DOLE appointees is Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Rebecca J. Calzado, who previously served as assistant secretary.

 

Meanwhile, Mr. Reydeluz Conferido was appointed the new DOLE Undersecretary for Employment. Before his appointment, he previously served as Director for Labor Affairs in the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taipei, Taiwan. He was also the former Executive Director of the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS), the policy research arm of DOLE.

ILS Deputy Executive Mary Grace Riguer takes oath of office before Secretary Baldoz

Ms. Mary Grace L. Riguer formally assumed the office of the Deputy Executive Director of the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS). With her family at her side, Deputy Executive Director Riguer took her oath of office before Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz in a ceremony last June 20, 2014 at the DOLE Conference Room, Intramuros, Manila.
