ILS report highlights RP’s upward movement in Heritage Foundation’s Index of Economic Freedom

The Philippines continues to traverse an upward trend of economic gains, as it climbed 12 notches to reach the 58th spot in The Heritage Foundation’s 2017 Index of Economic Freedom (IEF), from 70th among all ranked countries the year before. With an overall score of 65.6 (up from 63.1 in 2016), the Philippines maintains its stature as a moderately free economy—one that provides an institutional environment where individuals, as well as private enterprises, benefit from at least a modest degree of economic freedom in seeking greater competitiveness, prosperity, and growth

ILS 2018 policy researches to impact DOLE functions and operations

For 2018, the priority researches enrolled by the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) are ones  that have direct impact to DOLE functions and operations, except for two researches on the Future of Work and HRD Plan for Green Jobs,. ILS will partner with bureaus and other DOLE agencies,” says ILS Acting Executive Director Ahmma Lobrin-Satumba.

Asec. Avila calls for end-user assessment and peer review for DOLE researches

“After completion of all researches, the next important level is to have an assessment of finished researches to effectively validate the efficacy and effectiveness of the research outputs. Also, for our next meeting, present the end-users’ assessment on how they can make use of the said researches in the policy outputs affecting their organizations,” said Assistant Secretary Avila.

On 22, February 2018, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Officials, employees of the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS), and  representatives from the DOLE bureaus, attached agencies and services, including union leaders gathered for the  iGov Talks forum titled, Federal Philippines: Concepts, Issues and Policy Implications at the iLearn Conference Room, DOLE Building, Intramuros, Manila.

ILS in consultative workshop on the PSDP 2018 -2023  

The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) engaged in the “Consultative Workshop on the Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP) 2018 -2023” held on 14 -15 February 2018 at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Ortigas.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Assistant Secretary for Employment and Support Alex V. Avila, who is also the chair of the Inter-agency Committee on Labor and Productivity Statistics, made a presentation on the PSDP Chapter on Labor and Statistics.
