ILS moderates discussion on M&E of the ASEAN Labor Ministers’ Work Programme 2016-2020

The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) participated in the first Workshop of the Development of Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanism for the Association of Southeast Asian (ASEAN) Labour Ministers Work Programme 2016-2020 held on 15-16 October 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

ILS OIC-Chief Labor and Employment Officer Bernard Mangulabnan moderated Session 2 of the workshop, which introduced the Monitoring & Evaluation results framework linking outputs to higher-level outcomes.

ILS Acting Executive Director in the Korea/ILO Training Workshop on Employment Insurance

The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) ILS Acting Executive Director participates in the Korea/ILO Training Workshop on Employment Insurance from 15-21 in Seoul, South Korea.

The Training Workshop on Unemployment Insurance, jointly-organized by the International Labor Organization and the Korea Employment Information Service, was attended by tripartite representatives from Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.  Exec. Director Lobrin-Satumba was joined by Ms. Lucila Tarriela, Treasurer of the Employers Confederation of the Philippines, and Mr. Roberto Flores, Vice President of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines.

ILS in workshop to craft the DOLE Security Action Plans

“Security issues are high policy issues. We should be able to detect, identify and address these security issues so we can better respond, anticipate, and prevent them from happening. If we are conscious of these security issues within our DOLE mandate and in our programs, then we will be able to anticipate these security issues. We will stop threats from happening in relation to our security strategy.”

ILS presents RP decent work agenda in PSlink-BLR high-level conference

The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) Acting Deputy Executive Director Patrick Patriwirawan, Jr. presented the Philippine Decent Work Agenda” during the High Level Conference on the Strategic Role of Social Dialogue in Participatory Governance, Promotion and Development of Quality Public Services & Ensuring Decent Work in the Public Sector held at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Manila last October 25.

ILS looks into livelihood experiences of DILP beneficiaries

The Institute for Labor Studies researchers from the Workers Welfare Research Division (WWRD) has started its conduct of focus group discussions for its research titled “Bringing Sustainable Livelihood Framework to Life: A Study on the Possible Determinants of Sustainability of the Department of Labor and Employment Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).”

NCR-based unions participate in the ILS survey for gender research  

The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) invited ten National Capital Region-based unions to participate in the ILS survery for the research project “Organizing for Equality: Study on Women and Gender Mainstreaming in Labor Unions in Philippine Key Services Subsectors” conducted in 09 October at the Institute’s iLearn Conference Room, Manila.

ILS staff upscales skills on research writing and statistical analysis

The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) sent four of its researchers to the “Research Writing & Statistical Analysis” training by StrandAsia, Inc. at Ating Tahanan National Program & Training Center in Baguio City, Benguet last 15-18 October.

The ILS staff, composed of Joyce Anne S. Lumactud, Camille Frances G. Dumalaog, Marc Rapahael A. Penaredondo, and Soledad R. Deluna, joined representatives from the national government agencies, higher educational institutions, and private research consultants.

Safe Migration in ASEAN discussed in 1st ILS-POEA-ILAB interagency meeting

On  28 September 2018, the Institute for Labor Studies, headed by Acting Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin Satumba, met with Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Director Levinson Alcantara, along with the Department of Labor and Employment-International Labor Affairs Bureau (DOLE-ILAB) on the development of a public campaign on Safe Migration in ASEAN. The inter-agency meeting aimed to produce audio-visual materials and other technical inputs for the said campaign.

ILSEA officers take oath of office

The newly-elected officers of the Institute for Labor Studies Employees Association (ILSEA) took their oath of office before ILS Acting Executive Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba last 25 September 2018, a day after the union’s general elections was held.

The ILSEA is the accredited employees’ union of the Institute for Labor Studies.

DOLE, ILS in annual PIDS public policy conference

On  19 September 2018, the Institute for Labor Studies participated in the “Annual Public Policy Conference” of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies held at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel.
