Manila – Researchers from the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) organized a presentation forum for the discussion of the results of research titled, “Impact Evaluation of Productive Assets and Training on Child Labor in the Philippines (KASAMA Program),” last March 14 at the iLearn Conference Room of the Institute for Labor Studies in Intramuros, Manila.

Manila – The Gender and Development Committee of the Institute for Labor Studies conducted the first of its major activities for Women’s Month which is a Gender Sensitivity Training titled, “When Listening is Not Enough: Gender Sensitivity and Sexual Harassment in the Workplace,” last March 19-20 at the iLearn Conference Room in Intramuros, Manila.

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies’ Gender and Development (GAD) Committee successfully conducted its very first community-based forum titled, “Komunidad at Kamalayan para sa Karapatan ng Kababaihan,” last March 23 at Barangay 658, Multi-Purpose Hall in Intramuros, Manila.

Manila, Philippines – Following its successful 2019 Planning Exercise last January 31-February 1 at The Bayleaf Cavite, the Institute of Labor Studies recently held its Management Review and post evaluation of its research processes last February 5 at the iLearn Conference Room in Intramuros, Manila

The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) visited the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to consult about their possible research agenda for 2020-2025.last 27 February 2019 at the iLearn Conference Room in Intramuros, Manila.

Organized by the Institute for Labor Studies, the meeting was attended by representatives from the various DOLE family of agencies. On the other hand, PIDS was represented by Dr. Rene Manzano, Dr. Mario Lambete, Dr. Alvin Culaba, and Ms. Nitz Tolentino.

The Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) recently appointed its new set of officers for its Gender and Development (GAD) Committee as effected by ILS Administrative Order No. 18 issued last February 13, 2019.

Taking over the reins of Ronell Delerio is Malorie Joy Mones from the Workers Welfare Research Division, with Joyce Anne Lumactud from Labor and Social Relations Research Division being named as Vice Chair.

Ms. Maria Isabel Artajo, Acting Chief LEO of the Institute’s Workers Welfare Research Division, presented the Institute for Labor Studies’ research titled “Bringing Sustainable Livelihood Framework to Life:  A Study on the Possible Determinants of Sustainability of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP)” last 27 February 2019 at the Manila Prince Hotel in Ermita, Manila.

Mr. Bernard Paul M. Mangulabnan, Acting Chief LEO of the Institute’s Employment Research Division was one of the three delegates who were chosen to represent the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)  in the “Second Workshop of the Development of Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanism for the ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Work Programme 2016-2020,” from February 26-27 in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

Manila – The Institute for Labor Studies paper titled, “Implications of Extending the Maternity Leave Period of Female Employees,” published in 2015 was a material resource in the passage of Republic Act 11210, otherwise known as the “105- Day Expanded Maternity Leave Law,” which was signed into law last February 20.

“Collective bargaining is one instrument to address specific challenges of technology and the evolving world of work as parties negotiate to cover different aspects of digitization and flexibilization, among others. However, the low trade union density and collective bargaining rate in the country translated to lagging worker coverage.”
