Purpose:
To bring together the Department’s research teams to share their research-based output on the development of relevant policies on the promotion of decent work for all Filipinos.

Background:
In response to the Department’s need to be attuned to the country’s need for favorable social and political environments supportive of its national development goals of inclusive growth and poverty reduction, the 2nd DOLE Cluster Research Conference on Decent Work is created to bring together the Department’s research teams to share research-based outputs on the development of relevant labor and employment policies on the promotion of decent work for all Filipinos.

For its second offering, this year’s conference seeks to make the Department’s labor and employment strategy implementation more inclusive and more responsive to the emerging needs and challenges confronting workers and employers and in its quest for a more inclusive Philippine society. The need to involve more researchers and partners in the conference has been identified as a means to produce relevant and responsive labor and employment policy researches for effective decision- and policy-making. Furthermore, this year’s conference will feature labor researches as grouped per cluster in accordance with the four pillars of decent work.

Theme and Objectives:

The main theme of the conference is “Creating enabling environment towards achieving inclusive growth through decent and productive employment for all Filipinos”.

The conference aims to achieve the following objectives:

• To provide a forum for the exchange of ideas on the latest policy and program innovation development in the field of labor and employment among researchers and practitioners in different DOLE bureaus and attached agencies, and to seek opportunities for collaboration among the participants;

• To foster networking, collaboration and joint efforts among the conference participants to advance theory and practice as well as to identify major trends in decent work policy and program models, systems and innovations gearing towards achieving inclusive growth and poverty reduction in the Philippines.
